We are seeking an experienced, board-certified Addiction Psychiatrist for a Director role within Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Service leading the Addiction CL Psychiatry service. This is an exceptional leadership opportunity to shape the future of in-hospital addiction psychiatry practice at a leading academic medical center known for its commitment to excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Position Overview: As the Director of the Addiction CL Psychiatry service, you will oversee and perform expert consultation to patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring medical conditions in various hospital settings, including Intensive Care Units, Transplant, RUSK Rehabilitation, Langone Orthopedic Hospital, and the state-of-the-art Kimmel Hospital Pavilion. You will provide leadership to a team of addiction and CL psychiatrists, social workers, and trainees, ensuring high standards of care, promoting patient-centered care. This role includes administrative responsibilities, faculty mentorship, and program development to advance the clinical, educational, and research missions of the department. Our CL Psychiatry team provides for a supportive and engaging working environment. This position reports to the Chief of Psychiatry and the Director of CL Psychiatry service who provide mentoring and support to assure optimal professional development.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Clinical Care: Lead and provide expert consultation for hospitalized patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Ensure the implementation of harm reduction and evidence-based practices across the CL Psychiatry service.
Program Development & Innovation: Drive the creation and refinement of policies, protocols, and strategies for the management of substance use disorders in medically ill patients, advancing clinical care and best practices in addiction psychiatry.
Faculty Development & Mentorship: Mentor and supervise a diverse group of psychiatrists, residents, and fellows, fostering their professional growth and ensuring adherence to academic and clinical excellence.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with medical and surgical teams to provide psychiatric consultation, addressing both addiction and broader medical issues. Promote a culture of interdisciplinary teamwork and patient-focused outcomes.
Education & Training: Lead educational initiatives, providing teaching and training for medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows (CL, Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry).
Qualifications:
Board Certification: Board-certified or Board-Eligible in Addiction Psychiatry
Licensure: Valid and unrestricted medical license in New York State.
Experience: Fellowship training in Addiction Psychiatry, with a strong background or interest in CL psychiatry.
Skills: Expertise in the assessment and management of complex substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Academically oriented with an interest in medical education and scholarship. Strong ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and innovate within clinical and academic settings.
Salary: NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $240,000 – $271,500 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
